High efficiency with 45V, 3A, digitally calibrated, synchronous step-down module

The MPM3593 from Monolithic Power Systems operates at high-frequency and is a synchronous, rectified, step-down module which features I2C control and a multi-page one-time programmable (OTP) memory.

With up to 3A of continuous output current, load and line regulation is excellent across an input voltage range from 3.5V to 45V.

The internal high-side MOSFET and low-side MOSFET achieve high efficiency with no need for an external Schottky diode. With internal compensation and a feedback divider, the MPM3593 step-down module offers a very compact solution with minimal number of readily available, standard external components.

The MPM3593 supports flexible design with an output voltage from 0.8V to 12V, which can be adjusted on-the-fly using the I2C serial interface. This interface can also be used to configure voltage slew rate, switching frequency, enable, and the power-save mode. This enables the designer to optimize each output to suit different applications.

The configurations are easily created with the I2C interface and can be used during bench evaluations, rather than reworking external components. When the optimal configuration is achieved, the settings can be permanently stored in the multi-page one-time programmable memory.

Fast transient response and simplified loop stabilization are achieved by the current mode. The MPM3593 step-down module integrates under-voltage lockout, and protects against over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature conditions.

The QFN-41 package of the MPM3593 measures a compact 6mm x 8mm.
