Power-saving optocouplers offer 10 MBaud signalling rate

The VOxx6xA optocouplers from Vishay offer high isolation voltages and convenient microcontroller compatibility in various package options which provide isolation distances up to 10 mm.

Vishay has introduced five new 10 MBaud optocouplers which offer low power consumption for valuable energy savings in industrial applications. 

Featuring a wide supply-voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V and an open collector output, the single-channel VOH260A, VOIH060A, and VOWH260A and dual-channel VOH263A and VOIH063A may be used with low-voltage microcontrollers, and in I2C or SPI bus systems. The optocouplers are suitable for functions such as a microprocessor system interface, ground loop elimination, isolation of digital busses, high-speed analogue-to-digital or digital-to-analogue conversion, digital power control, and level shifting. 

The optocouplers use a highly efficient input LED coupled to an integrated photodetector logic gate with a strobable output. The combination of a low supply current and low typical turn-on threshold current simplifies designs by eliminating the need for an additional driver stage and allowing for direct connection to an MCU. 

High minimum common-mode transient immunity of 15 kV/μs makes the optocouplers suitable for applications operating at voltages higher than 1,000 V.
