Aluminum polymer capacitors set high benchmark for temperature resistance
Part of the Panasonic SP-Cap portfolio, the KX, JX and TX series capacitors offer higher temperature capability than standard parts, to enable use in densely populated AI processor boards.

Panasonic Industry supplies three series of SP-Cap aluminum polymer capacitors which enhance system ability to operate continuously at high temperature, an important requirement for devices mounted near the processors in the latest artificial intelligence (AI) servers.Â
The TX series offers endurance of 5,500 hours at 135°C, promising high reliability in high temperatures. These capacitors also last for a minimum of 1,000 hours at 85°C and 85% relative humidity, making them suitable for operation in demanding outdoor applications. The JX and KX series of SP-Cap capacitors offer similar reliability in demanding temperature and humidity conditions. The JX capacitors are rated for a lifetime of 3,000 hours at 125°C, and the KX for 5,000 hours at 125°C.Â
As aluminum polymer capacitors, the TX, KX and JX series are typically specified when an application such as noise reduction or voltage smoothing requires low ESR. These products offer ESR ratings of between 3 mΩ and 15 mΩ.Â
The SP-Cap capacitors offer an attractive alternative to multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) and pure tantalum capacitors thanks to the long lifespan and high stability.Â
The high capacitance also means that designs require fewer capacitors and a smaller PCB. They also produce better performance than other capacitor types, especially in complex, low-profile electronics systems.
