High-accuracy, high-bandwidth programmable magnetic angle sensor
The MA600A is a digital magnetic angle sensor from Monolithic Power Systems which combines high accuracy with high bandwidth and design flexibility.
Factory calibration enables the MA600A to achieve an integral non-linearity (INL) error which is below 0.6° across the operating temperature range. A final system calibration through a 32-point, user-configurable correction table can result in an INL error which is less than 0.1°.
The high bandwidth of the MA600A magnetic angle sensor supports 12 kHz at 12.5-bit resolution.
Using tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) technology, the MA600A sensor offers magnetic field strengths from 10 mT to 100 mT, and can be mounted on-axis, at the end of the shaft, and off-axis on a side shaft.
Configuration parameters are stored in the on-chip non-volatile memory (NVM). These configurations cover the settings for the reference zero-angle position, as well as the incremental ABZ quadrature encoder interface which offers from 1 to 4096 configurable pulses per turn, as well as the incremental UVW encoder output, and pulse-width modulation (PWM).
The option of a serial peripheral interface (SPI) enables configuration of the sensor in addition to digital sequential angle readout of multiple sensor in the daisy chain configuration. This feature minimizes the number of I/O pins that are used by the controller. An alternative interface option nis a synchronous serial interface (SSI) which also supports digital angle readout.
The MA600A is available in a small QFN-16, 3 mm x 3 mm package, and for qualification to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 there is the MAQ600A.
