Three-phase gate driver IC offers high-side switching up to 600V for motor inverters
The MCP8062136 three-phase half-bridge gate driver from Microchip Technology allows high-voltage switching and includes numerous protection functions to power more efficient and safer industrial inverters.
As a three-phase half-bridge gate driver IC, the MCP8062136 addresses the need for high-voltage, fast-switching inverter applications. Built on a high-voltage process, the gate driver supports high-side switching up to 600V using bootstrap operation, making it suitable for driving N-channel MOSFETs and IGBTs in industrial and appliance-grade three-phase systems.
The driver delivers up to 200mA source and 350mA sink current, providing sufficient drive strength for reliable switching in medium-power inverter stages while maintaining control in electrically-noisy environments.
Featuring an internal deadtime of 290s, the drivers prevent MOSFET or IGBT damage in operation, and output out of phase with inputs to function better in noisy environments typical of industrial motors. The MCP8062136 also includes high-pulse-current buffers to minimize driver cross conduction enabling more efficient operation.
Logic inputs are compatible with industry-standard transistor-transistor logic (TTL) and CMOS levels down to 3.3V, allowing engineers to integrate the MCP8062136 easily with control devices.
