Three-phase motor drive efficiency from 85V MOSFET driver with adaptive dead-time
The MIC4607A MOSFET driver from Microchip features fast propagation delay and driver rise/fall time, in addition to protection features, for modern automotive and industrial motor drive designs.
Microchip has introduced the MIC4607A MOSFET driver with 35ns propagation delay time and 20ns driver rise/fall time, over a 1nF capacitive load, suitable for motors used in automobiles and industrial automation.
Modern motor drives are becoming more robust, and the MIC4607A supports that by featuring protection features such as:
- A high-speed and low-power lever shifter for clean low-high output transitions
- Under-voltage protection provided on both low and high-side drivers
- Adaptive dead-time control ensuring MOSFETs of the same phase branch are not conducting at the same time
These features prevent the driver from being affected by supply glitches, high-side ringing below ground and skewing with fast voltage transitions.
The MIC4607A features wettable flanks in a 28-pin 4mm x 5mm VQFN package for reliable bonding to PCB layouts, and operates between -40°C to 125°C.
