Effective battery protection from compact 30V dual MOSFET with low on-resistance

The AW2K21 dual N-channel Power MOSFET from ROHM enables smaller and more efficient switching topologies in USB power delivery circuits, and contributes to the ongoing miniaturization of consumer devices.

As a common-source N-channel power MOSFET, the AW2K21 is ideal for mobile or space-constrained battery applications which demand efficient operation. The AW2K21 is packaged in a surface-mount 2.0mm x 2.0mm WLCSP2020 form factor which can be placed close to USB-C® connectors or power controllers.

A total gate charge of 29nC and low gate-source-on voltage enables the MOSFET to be driven directly by common USB-PD gate-driver ICs, simplifying power-path control while maintaining low component count and reduced board footprint. 

Despite its small size, the AW2K21 features a very low 4mΩ on-resistance and current-handling capacity of up to 20A. These characteristics are perfectly suited for high-speed electronic switching with minimal loss, helping to reduce conduction losses in high-current paths contributing to reduced thermal load.
