New relay offers high short-circuit protection in EV charging applications

The four-pole AZEV400 relay from ZETTLER supports the efforts of charge point manufacturers to comply with important safety and operating standards, and the relay provides 5 kV of isolation.

The AZEV400 relay from ZETTLER offers comprehensive short-circuit protection in electric vehicle charging applications. The short-circuit capability has been validated at 3 kA and 10 kA across voltages from 230 V to 400 V, providing consistent performance and safety even under extreme conditions.

Rated for a maximum load of 50 A and a switching capability of 480 V ac, the AZEV400 is intended for use in IEC 61851 Mode 3 charging applications.

The relay provides robust protection in demanding charging environments. For instance, it features a surge withstand voltage of up to 10 kV, while enhanced insulation adds an extra layer of safety. The relay also features dielectric strength of up to 5 kVrms. Additionally, the AZEV400 is equipped with a mirror contact characterized according to the EN 60947-4-1 standard, enabling secure monitoring of switching contacts, and offering robust protection in safety-critical applications.

These features make the AZEV400 the ideal choice for durable and secure charging infrastructure.
