Smallest-in-class tuning fork crystal with extended temperature range for industrial IoT

The ECX-1210 is a 32.768 kHz surface-mount tuning fork crystal from ECS Inc in the industry-smallest 1.2 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.5 mm package with a tolerance of ±20 ppm. It operates over an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.

The ECS Inc ECX-1210 is an ideal timing device for space-constrained, high-temperature designs in applications ranging from industrial to consumer electronics. The drive level of 0.1 μW also makes the ECX-1210 well suited for applications which require long battery life, such as medical wearable devices and IoT sensor nodes.

The ECX-1210 tuning fork crystal features a load capacitance of 12.5 pF and an equivalent series resistance of 90 kΩ. The temperature coefficient is -0.02 ppm/°C² to -0.04 ppm/°C² over the operating temperature range, and the first year aging at 25°C is specified at ±3 ppm. This means that designers can rely on the crystal’s accuracy throughout the standard operating lifetime of the design.

The tuning fork crystal is recommended for use as a low-power real-time clock (RTC) solution for designs based on STMicroelectronics STM32 microcontrollers and microprocessors.
