Dc-dc converters with very wide input-voltage range for electric mobility applications

The RMOD range of isolated dc-dc converter modules from RECOM offer robust performance in off-highway vehicles powered by a battery, and provide compliance with standards governing exposure to shock and vibration.

RECOM supplies the RMOD range of dc-dc converter modules, which combine high efficiency and excellent thermal performance with the ruggedness required for use in off-highway electric vehicles (EVs).

The range of power output values available in the RMOD range stretches from 300 W in the RMOD300-UW, to 600 W in the RMOD600-24-SW and RMOD600-80-13SEW.

The newest members of the RMOD family are the RMOD300-UW and RMOD360-UW. Both dc-dc converters are supplied in a baseplate-cooled package measuring 190 mm x 76 mm x 44 mm. The input-voltage range is 18 V to 106 V dc, which means that the converters can handle EV batteries with a nominal voltage spanning a range from 24 V up to 90 V. The 300 W-rated RMOD300-UW is available with fully regulated single outputs of 12.2 V, 13.7 V, or 24.5V dc, while the 360 W-rated RMD360-UW has a single 24.5 V dc output.

Both dc-dc converters feature a polycarbonate housing and aluminum baseplate with IP67 sealing for the electronic components, and IP20 rating for the product as a whole, in pollution degree 2 environments up to 5,000 m altitude, allowing for mounting on any part of a vehicle chassis. RMOD converters are available with alternative connectors, providing for an IP67 overall product rating.

Isolation is rated at 2,250 V dc input-to-output, and 550 V dc output-to-baseplate according to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1. The converters comply with the provisions of the IEC 61000 EMI standards. Parts in the modules are qualified for shock and vibration according to IEC 60068-2.
