Cost-effective MCU upgrades entry-level designs with high-performance core

The STM32C5A3 MCU from STMicroelectronics is based on the high-performance Arm® Cortex®-M33 32-bit RISC core, operating at frequency of up to 144MHz, and adds high-speed on-chip memory.

The core features a floating-point unit (FPU) to support all Arm single-precision data-processing instructions and data types. Also integrated are a full set of digital signal processing (DSP) instructions and a memory protection unit (MPU) to boost application security.

The on-chip high-speed memory offers 1MB Flash with error correction code (ECC) and 2 banks of read-while-write, in addition to 128KB SRAM. The STM32C5A3 MCU also features one Octo-SPI memory interface, and extensive enhanced I/Os, in addition to peripherals connected to three advanced peripheral buses (APBs), three advanced high-performance buses (AHB), and a 32-bit multi-AHB bus matrix.

The protection for the on-chip Flash memory and SRAM is readout protection, write protection, and hide protection areas.

A range of peripherals are embedded to reinforce security, which includes a HASH hardware accelerator, hardware unique key (HUK), a true random number generator, in addition to two AES coprocessors, including one with differential power analysis (DPA) resistance, and a DPA-resistant public key accelerator (PKA).

Analog peripherals are added to a range of communication interfaces which support I2C, I3C, SPI, USART, FDCAN, USB full-speed and Ethernet.
