Support AC motor drives with a converter, brake and inverter in a single IGBT module
The whole of an AC motor drive can be supported with a single power semiconductor module, which has the high level of integration offered by the IXYS MUBW50-17T8 IGBT module from Littelfuse.
The MUBW50-17T8 module integrates a converter, brake and inverter into a single standard package. Hiperfast and soft reverse recovery are supported by the rugged epitaxial free-wheeling input diodes which are also integrated into the module.
Rugged short-circuit performance is enabled by the Trench IGBT technology, which adds a high reverse bias safe operating area (RBSOA). The low saturation voltage, low switching losses and tail current are also features of the IGBT technology.
Serving as a solid-state switch with three-phase power inputs, the MUBW50-17T8 converter, brake and inverter (CBI) IGBT module benefits applications which include AC motor drives, solar inverters, uninterruptible power supplies, and switched mode power supplies.
