Always-on accelerometer and gyroscope in IMU with intelligent sensor processing
The ISM330IS from STMicroelectronics is a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) system-in-package with an always-on 3-axis digital accelerometer and 3-axis digital gyroscope, and an intelligent sensor processing unit (ISPU).
High performance and low power consumption are achieved with 0.59mA as the always-on accelerometer and gyroscope operate in addition to the ISPU, for optimal motion detection. In low-power mode the current is 0.46mA with the always-on gyroscope and accelerometer operating, without the intelligent sensor processing unit.
The full-scale acceleration range is ±2/±4/±8/±16g and the range of the angular rate is ±125/±250/±500/±1000/±2000dps.
Programmable interrupts are offered in addition to an on-chip sensor hub, which features up to six sensors, for the internal accelerometer and gyroscope, in addition to four external sensors.
For real-time applications, the ultra low-power, intelligent sensor processing unit (ISPU) is a programmable core, which can execute signal processing and AI algorithms at the edge. In addition to C programming, the ISPU is supported by an enhanced ecosystem with libraries and 3rd-party tools and IDE.
As a state-of-the-art feature, the ISPU can benefit applications which range from small equipment or accessories to enterprise-level solutions for Industry 5.0.
The machine learning libraries are generated by the STMicroelectronics NanoEdge AI Studio, which simplifies the creation of machine learning libraries with on-sensor learning.
