Board-to-board connectors support high data-transmission rates

The FX23 board-to-board connectors from Hirose feature a floating structure which allows for movement to tolerate mounting misalignment. The connector contact configuration helps to maintain high signal integrity.

The FX23/FX23L series of floating connectors from Hirose can handle high currents and perform high-speed data transmission. The connectors are suitable for use in PCIe Gen4 interfaces.

The FX23 connectors enable data transmission at a maximum speed of up to 8 Gbits/s, a capability which is supported by an innovative impedance-matching contact design. The ground contacts are situated between the adjacent differential pair contacts to reduce crosstalk for better performance.

The connector has a hybrid structure combining power and signal contacts. Four built-in power contacts which can each carry current of up to 3 A are located alongside the mating guides to save space. The signal contacts can each carry 0.5 A. Large guideposts maintain contact alignment when mating.

The connector range consists of headers and receptacles which provide a parallel or right-angle board-to-board connection. The FX23L connectors have a lower profile than the FX23. The header has a unique floating structure embedded inside the fixed base of the housing. This allows movement in the x,y directions of ±0.6 mm to absorb mounting misalignment.

Suitable for automotive applications, the FX23 connectors can operate at temperatures up to 105°C.

The FX23/FX23L series is part of the FunctionMAX product family. FunctionMAX consists of board-to-board connectors which meet the requirements of the industrial market with maximum functionality.
