Boost efficiency by optimizing drive levels with an isolated gate drive dc-dc converter
To increase system efficiency, the drive levels of gate drive circuits for IGBTs/SiC and MOSFETs can be optimized with the 1W MGJ1D121505MPC surface-mount DC-DC converter from Murata.
The 5.7kV DC isolation offered by the MGJ1D121505MPC is commonly used in bridge circuits of motor drives and inverters and is also confirmed by a high-potential (HiPot) test. To power high- and low-side gate drive circuits, the MGJ1D121505MPC features an asymmetric dual output voltage of +15V/-5V from a 12V input voltage. The bipolar output voltages for other dc-dc converters in the MGJ1 series are +15V/-3V, +15V/-9V and +19V/-5V, from input voltages of 5V, 12V, 15V or 24V.
