Ferrite-based assembly inductors support high-frequency power switching

The AVR inductors from Abracon offer low dc resistance, helping power-system designers to achieve high efficiency in servers, data centers, and other applications which require efficient power conversion in a restricted space.

The AVR family of assembly inductors from Abracon provides an efficient and cost-effective option for demanding power-conversion applications. These ferrite-based inductors feature a distinctive clip construction, which enables a very low dc resistance ratings, reducing heat dissipation and increasing system efficiency.

These assembly inductors are most commonly used in centralized processing applications, such as data centers, cloud computing equipment, rack servers, and servers for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Here, the AVR inductors can operate in traditional dc-dc converter circuits, or as compensation inductors in trans-inductor voltage regulator (TLVR) multi-phase power systems.

In TLVR topologies, the compensation inductor is essential for primary-side power balancing. TLVR circuits offer superior transient-load response. In simpler single-phase or traditional non-TLVR multiphase dc-dc converters, assembly inductors offer superior performance at a lower cost than the molded inductors that would commonly have been used previously.

Featuring inductance values of less than 680 nH, these inductors can handle high-frequency switching operations in compact and efficient power converters.
