Linear regulator provides accurate voltage output for automotive systems
The automotive-grade LDL40 LDO from STMicroelectronics provides a robust input-voltage handling capability to withstand harsh electrical conditions when connected to a vehicle battery.

The LDL40 from STMicroelectronics is an accurate LDO voltage regulator which can be directly connected to a car battery, or to a generic battery in industrial equipment. Supporting a wide input-voltage range up to 40 V, this AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualified LDO can handle the transient voltage caused by a load dump, a common event in automotive systems.
The regulator is available in three versions, providing a choice of output-voltage options:
- LDL40PURY adjustable output voltage between 1.2 V and 12 V
- LDL40PU33RY fixed 3.3 V output
- LDL40PU50RY fixed 5.0 V output
Ultra-low quiescent current when supplying a light load extends battery run-time in always-on applications that operate mainly in standby mode.
Voltage accuracy for all versions is ±2.5% across the rated operating-temperature range. All are supplied in a six-lead 2 mm x 2 mm DFN package. The regulator is stabilized with a small ceramic capacitor on the input and output.
