Lowest power consumption from advanced 20MP image sensor with SmartROI

For faster detection and lower power consumption, the AR2020 stacked Hyperlux™ LP digital image sensor from onsemi enables smart region of interest (SmartROI) and captures images in line interleaved high dynamic range (LI-HDR) or enhanced dynamic range (eDR).

The SmartROI optimizes bandwidth, and reduces data output and processing, by using a single capture process to capture more than one region in the scene for every frame. This enables the application to focus on targeted, highly-focused sub-images to provide high resolution of a specific area. SmartROI can benefit applications which include machine vision cameras in factory automation and robotics, as high-quality performance is delivered while consuming very low power.

To deliver excellent performance in low light and the NIR 850nm and 940nm wavelengths, the AR2020 is a 1/1.8−inch back-side illuminated (BSI) stacked digital image sensor with a 5120 x 3840 active-pixel array.

Key features of the sensor include wake on motion (WOM) in addition to the multiple subsampling modes of binning, summing, skipping and windowing. To give greater flexibility, there are also the multiple functional modes of global reset release (GRR), trigger and context switching.

These features enable the AR2020 sensor to provide powerful data capture at the edge, which can be programmed to deliver optimal bandwidth at very low power.

In addition to the 20MP AR2020 rolling shutter image sensor, the Hyperlux™ LP range also offers the 8.3MP AR0830, and the 5MP AR0544 image sensor.
