Safety capacitors suppress EMI in automotive circuits

The AY2 series from Vishay are automotive-grade X1/Y2 440 V/300 V ac-rated ceramic disc safety capacitors.Â
The AY2 safety capacitors are for use as Y capacitors for EMI suppression and filtering, and for primary-secondary coupling in electric vehicle chargers. They may also be used as filtering capacitors in dc-dc converters in all types of electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
These AEC-Q200 qualified capacitors comply with the requirements of the IEC 60384-14 4th edition standard.Â
The AY2 series safety capacitors are available in 20 versions with capacitance values ranging from 10 pF to 10 µF. Body diameter ranges from 7.5 mm for 10 pF to 1,000 pF capacitance, up to 15.5 mm for 10 µF capacitance.
The capacitor consists of a ceramic disc which is silver-plated on both sides. Connection leads are made of tinned copper-clad steel with a diameter of 0.6 mm.
