Shield board aids evaluation of secure element security features

The OPTIGAā„¢ Trust M Shield from Infineon gives designers access to the full set of security capabilities in the OPTIGA Trust M secure element, including advanced cryptography and security certificates.

The OPTIGA Trust M Shield from Infineon provides a convenient, ready-made platform for evaluating the OPTIGA Trust M family of discrete secure elements.Ā

The shield board is supplied in a popular mikroBUSā„¢ layout, which makes it easy to use in prototype designs based on any microcontroller or microprocessor. It is compatible with the PSOCā„¢ 62S2 Wi-Fi BT Pioneer Kit and OPTIGA Trust Adapter. With the proper adapters, the shield can also be used with single-board computers.Ā

The OPTIGA Trust M family of secure elements implements a high-end security solution for embedded systems. The secure element offers an anchor of trust for connecting IoT devices to the cloud, giving every IoT device its own identity. This individual, turnkey solution offers secure, zero-touch onboarding and the high performance needed for quick cloud access.

The OPTIGA Trust M chips and supporting software offer a wide range of security features. In particular, there is support for common asymmetric cryptography algorithms including:Ā

  • RSAĀ® up to 2048Ā
  • AES key up to 256, HMAC up to SHA512Ā
  • TLS v1.2 PRF and HKDF up to SHA512

The turnkey set-up with full system integration minimizes the design, integration and deployment effort required from product manufacturers. The OPTIGA Trust M development process is certified according to the security standard IEC 62443-4-1 for industrial automation and control systems, acting as an enabler to achieve component-level certification according to IEC 62443-4-2.

The OPTIGA Trust M is specified in two operating temperature ranges. The chip is supplied in a USON-10 package which has a footprint of 3 mm x 3 mm.
