Ultra-compact industrial module for NB-IoT with optional GNSS
Designed for space-constrained narrow-band IoT (NB-IoT) applications, the STMicroelectronics ST87M01-1301 industrial module is packaged in an 12.8mm x 10.6mm 51-pin LGA, and supports years of maintenance-free operation with ultra-low-power consumption.
The ST87M01-1301 enables worldwide multi-band coverage with NB-IoT Cat NB2 connectivity, and offers configurable options for embedded SIM, GNSS, Wi-Fi positioning and Wireless M-Bus (WBUS) fallback. The industrial NB-IoT module is compliant with the SGP.32 standard for secure remote SIM provisioning.
Precise location tracking via GPS constellation is enabled by the integrated GNSS option, and the Wi-Fi positioning option supports fast, low-power location services using the nearby 802.11b networks and third-party geocoding providers.
In environments with limited cellular network coverage, a reliable backup communication channel is provided by Wireless M-Bus, and the embedded SIM option optimizes board space and cuts the complexity of the bill-of-materials (BOM).
Versatile connectivity is enabled as the ST87M01-1301 supports a wide range of IoT protocols. These protocols include PDU SMS services as well as internet protocols such as TCP/IP, TLS/DTLS, CoAP, LwM2M, MQTT, and HTTP/HTTPS.
Advanced security is enabled by certification to the cybersecurity requirements of the RED Directive Delegated Act (RED-DA).
