Low-cost microprocessor protected by broad set of security functions
The STM32MP131 MPU from STMicroelectronics, part of the STM32MP1 family of low-cost processors, provides a secure hardware platform for basic Linux® distributions as well as RTOSs.
The STM32MP131 microprocessor from STMicroelectronics offers cost-effective and energy-efficient processing protected by certified security capabilities.
Part of the STM32MP13x line of MPUs, the STM32MP131 is based on a single Arm® Cortex®-A7 core running at up to 1 GHz, and interfacing to a single Ethernet port.
The STM32MP131 MPU’s advanced security features include:
- A cryptographic accelerator
- Memory protection functions to deter illegal access
- Code isolation mechanisms for runtime protection
- Platform authentication functions protecting systems throughout the product lifecycle
The STM32MP131 supports entry-level Linux operating system (OS) distributions, as well as bare metal implementations and real-time OSs (RTOSs). The Microsoft Azure RTOS is pre-integrated in the STM32MP131.
The code available from ST for security mechanisms includes the Open Portable Trusted Execution Environment (OP-TEE) and the Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A) projects. This helps developers using the STM32MP13x processors to address the key elements of information security in their applications: confidentiality, integrity, availability, and authentication.
ST has also introduced software expansion packages tailored for the STM32MP13x which help designers to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) in computer vision projects and to accelerate the development of predictive maintenance applications. These include X-LINUX-AI, an expansion package which contains AI frameworks and application examples for the Linux OS to help designers to quickly begin implementing computer vision use cases.
