The inverter board drives a 3-phase BLDC fan motor up to 0.22 ARMS motor current with >93% efficiency without using external heat sink.
The design incorporates a complete inverter stage with a control input interface to facilitate various control schemes with the addition of a system sensing input, instantaneous phase current output signals from each BridgesSwitch device, a status communication bus output and an optional input for device external-bias operation. The inverter stage is implemented using three fully integrated BridgeSwitch (BRD1260C) devices in a small footprint surface mount InSOP-24C package with exposed pads that enable heat sinking through PCB. This document contains the inverter specifications, circuit schematic, bill of materials, printed circuit board layout, the inverter performance, inverter manual and the bench test setup. Performance data of the board is collected with the inverter operating in a sine wave drive control scheme operating at 20 kHz PWM frequency. For this purpose, the on-board control input connector interfaces to an external sinusoidal motor driver IC.
